About 250 residents participated in an information conference to recruit reserve soldiers for the Yehuda Battalion, which will guard the Modi'in area and the surrounding area. The Yehuda Battalion belongs to the new David Division, which is being established as part of the lessons of October 7.
The conference, which was held on January 13, in the Municipal Auditorium, was attended by about 250 residents of the city, some of whom are already in the midst of the recruitment process and some are new members.
Mayor Haim Bibas opened the conference and welcomed the impressive mobilization of the city's residents to guard Modi'in and the surrounding area. Afterwards, Lt. Col. Eran Rosmarin, the battalion commander, explained the battalion's role, its missions in times of emergency, and the establishment process.
The division was established, as mentioned, as part of the lessons of October 7 and the understanding that there are still many challenges, with the need to strengthen security in localities being critical. The division's role will be to respond to emergency events, security incidents that occur in the immediate time frame.
The division consists of brigades and battalions that include combat reservists, commanders and officers from the combat formation, who have been exempted from reserve service (non-medical) or those who have passed the age for reserve service and wish to return to service.
The city of Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut will be the central area of the Yehuda Battalion, which will provide a security response to the city and the surrounding localities. Thus, there will be priority for the recruitment of city residents, with formation training for battalion commanders and battalion fighters to be carried out in the coming week. They will be equipped with weapons and equipment so that they are prepared and ready for any scenario of a breakout in the city and the region.
The aforementioned battalion will be activated in an emergency in full coordination with the municipality's security administration and will constitute another significant layer in securing the city. In this way, it will constitute a significant and important addition to the technological means deployed at the perimeter fence and serving as the municipality's focal point, with the military force located on the seam line, the standby emergency squads, the security patrols and the municipal police.
