26/01/2025 כ"ו טבת תשפ"ה

Once again this year, the city of Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut is at the top of the recycling index for recycle usage of orange bins, in the category of large cities in the country. This is according to data from the Tamir Recycling Corporation, for 2024.

According to the data, the weight of the packaging waste content that was cleared by the local authority in 2024 is 559 tons of waste. In other words, 0.30 kg of waste for recycling, collected on average from a household each week.

This is a very impressive achievement given the fact that the orange bin system began in the city only four years ago, towards the end of 2021. It is a relatively new and complex process, which was carried out gradually in the city's neighborhoods, accompanied by information and activities in collaboration with the Tamir Corporation.

As of today, there are 2,346 orange containers scattered throughout the city, placed in garbage rooms in buildings. In addition, 201 large containers are located at recycling stations, commercial and employment areas and near residences.. During 2025, the municipality plans to continue its activities to encourage the recycling of plastic packaging. At the top of the work plan is the placement of large orange bins throughout the new Moreshet neighborhood.

The Quality and Environmental Planning Department at the municipality reminds that packaging waste should be put into the orange bin. For example, plastic, metal and canned packaging, and beverage and food cartons.
