During the Hanukkah holiday, a special bus from the Kavim transport company came to the day camp of "Tzlilim" school students and issued each of them personal Rav Kav cards, which they will use to travel on public transportation.
The school has students on the autistic spectrum, so traveling on public transportation is a significant step for them in adapting to everyday life. The school staff, led by Principal Yael Abucassis, created a unique curriculum for traveling on buses, and since then, the students have been traveling to parks, shopping centers, the Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut municipality, and other places around the city.
This is an important part of the educational concept implemented at the school, to acquire skills and strengths of independence and responsibility among the students, who are greatly empowered by the experience. "But no less important than that," says the school's principal, Yael Abucassis, "there is a priceless social value here, that the residents can get to know our students and thus we will become a much more inclusive and better society."
