Over the weekend of 22-24.11.24, several events were held in memory of the late Captain Eden Nimri, who fell in battle on October 7th, and should have celebrated her 24th birthday that weekend.
The first event, held at the swimming pool at Re'ut Water park, included a swim in memory of Eden, who was killed in a heroic battle at the Nahal Oz outpost on October 7, 2023. Eden was an outstanding swimmer on the Israeli national team and in the "Maccabi Re'ut Water Park" association.
Dozens of participants from all over the country swam 24 sections of 100 meters in her honor. At the event Chief Artillery Officer, Brigadier General Yair Nathans, took part, saying: "Eden was a symbol of excellence and leadership. Her values and abilities were evident in every field she engaged in."
Eden's father, Michael Nimri, added: "Eden loved physical and mental challenges, but most of all - the friendships that were formed at every stage of her life."
Her father also said that one of the fighters in her career contacted him and said that he thought a lot about Eden during the war and defined her as a woman 'who spread free love'. "Her absence is felt," Michael concluded, "but these events give us strength and pride."
Another event was held on Sunday, 24th November, during which "Training Eden" was held - a fitness workout written by Eden's partner, Captain R., and held simultaneously at the Yachad High School, at the Shivta base and at Nahal Sorek. Participants shared their experiences on social media under hashtag #TrainingEden.
Eden, who excelled in every field - in her studies, swimming and military service, is remembered as an inspiring figure whose sacrifice in battle made the lives of her friends possible. Her memory and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of many.
