Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut, which is no better suited to celebrate Hanukkah in a big way as the "City of the Hasmoneans", offers dozens of events and activities during the holiday. Some of them are free of charge or for a nominal fee.
Let's start with the youth, who will enjoy performances according to age groups on Tuesday, 24.12.24. For grades 7-9, a show by singer and actor Ily Chapman will take place at 19:30. At 21:30 a stand-up show by Guy Hochman will be held for grades 10-12. Ticket price – 10 shekels. Einan Hall at the Azrieli Mall.
And what about the whole family? A variety of events and activities, close to home. From 25-31 December, foraging tours to gather medicinal and edible plants will be held in the Ben Shemen Forest and Givat HaTitura. These activities are free of charge, subject to advance registration on the municipality's website. Tours will be held in two groups – senior citizens and families with children. Not suitable for strollers.
The Hasmonean Heritage Museum offers a wide variety of experiential workshops for the whole family: pottery workshop, experiential show, ancient costumes with which you can take pictures, a menorah mosaic workshop, a clay candle making workshop. Ticket price – 30 shekels.

The libraries are also celebrating the holiday with a variety of activities, including a glass menorah workshop, a podcast creation workshop for youth, a meeting with bookworm Meira Barnea Goldberg, an escape room for children and a scientific activity based on books and creating a spinning top with an electric motor, amongst other things. Additional special activities that will take place are on Friday 27 December: a tour in the ecological farm area. We will get to know local nature.

Another interesting activity will take place on Sunday 29.12.24 "Discovering the Anabe Stream". Chanuka for the whole family with activity and craft stations along the stream. Pita-making, a show with Hasmonean characters, and a festive candle lighting ceremony. The route begins at the end of the path leading from 10 Duchifat Street into the stream. Free of charge.
Heichal HaTarbut will feature all the traditional Chanuka shows: for example, Peter and the Wolf by Orna Porat Theater, the musical "The Twins Have Changed", The Wizard of Oz by Enak, Casper by the Black Theater, The Jungle Book and more.
