The “Israel Hofshit” movement has published the city shabbat index, according to which the city of Modi'in Maccabim Reut is among the leading cities in the index, with 5 points out of 6.
The purpose of the index, published on 21.7.24, for the second year, is to examine where commercial, cultural and economic life takes place on Shabbat and holidays, and it measured 42 local authorities that are distinctly non-Orthodox.
The high ranking of the city of Modi'in Maccabim Re'ut is due to its activity for intercity transportation on Saturdays with the support of the municipality, namely the project "Naim BeSofash" which has been very successful with free travel on Saturdays and holidays. This is important news for residents of the city, youth, young people and adults, who can enjoy travel to central places in Tel Aviv.
Additional criteria that were examined and in which the city received a high rating are the possibility of trading on Saturdays, the operation of city institutions and cultural centers on Saturdays, and the operation of pools and sports clubs.
